Viva Sheila was bred in New York by Stone Bridge Farm, LLC, and foaled on March 5, 2014. She was purchased by Lady Sheila Stable and Edition Farm at the 2015 Fasig-Tipton New York-Bred Yearling Sale in Saratoga Springs. Viva Sheila is an unraced daughter of two-time Breeders’ Cup Classic winner and Hall of Fame member Tiznow out of the Abiginone mare Acey Ducey, a multiple graded stakes winner. Abiginone won seven of 10 career starts, including the Grade 3 Los Angeles Handicap. Viva Sheila’s half-brother, Preachintothedevil, is also a multiple stakes winner.
Viva Sheila is in foal to Hall of Fame racehorse Ghostzapper with an expected due date of March 1.
The first season of Foal Patrol, a one-of-a-kind collection of live cameras following the daily activities of in-foal mares, had more than 1.6 million views from December 2017 through September 2018. Viva Sheila joins Frivolous (Shawnee Farm), Silver Colors (Gainesway Farm), With Honors (Claiborne Farm), Love and Pride (Three Chimneys Farm), and Comme Chez Soi (Old Tavern Farm) in Season 2. More horses will be announced throughout the month.
